Some Different Types of Baldness
Having to experience baldness is surely not something which is going to be fun in any way thinkable. This is why a lot of people, regardless whether they are men or women, always try to keep their hair looking good or even try to enhance how their hair looks like. Unfortunately, baldness does take place. But, of course, this does not necessarily mean that there is no way to cure baldness. However, before the people, especially men, will be able to cure baldness, it may well turn out to be quite a necessary thing to carry out to get some further information with concerns to some of the existing different types of baldness.
Well, the first type of baldness that people can possibly encounter is usually known as the androgenetic alopecia. As its name may well have implied, this baldness type is triggered by the androgen hormone. This is the particular hormone which is in charge of the masculine features, such as testosterone, starting from the emergence to the development of the masculine features. Androgen, when combined with the genetic as well as age factors, will trigger a time clock and it is this time clock which is meant to signal the follicles of the hair to produce an enzyme known as alpha reductase. Unfortunately, this will cause the baldness of this first type because the hair follicles are pretty sensitive to this particular enzyme.
The second type of baldness is the male pattern baldness. When boys have reached the age of puberty, this baldness type may come as a hereditary situation. This baldness type will usually start from the front, then it will go to the sides and then it will go onto the head itself. Some men may experience a bald spot and some may experience a receding hairline. But they are lucky enough if so. There are some others who may happen to be completely bald.
Among those different types of baldness, there is also the female pattern baldness. In most cases, the hair will go thinner all over the head and the front hairline may not diminish. However, it almost never happens that the women will be completely bald.
There is also a situation, called alopecia areata, in which the hair in a certain area happens to lose all of a sudden. Then, the scalp will often have patches that somehow look similar to coin-sized bald. There are some people who are lucky enough to have their hair back after a couple of months. However, since this is a sudden loss, re-growth may sound impossible. And, it is often expected that this condition is caused by several factors.
Scarring may also cause baldness. Injury or x-ray treatments may cause a scar that prevents the hair from growing back. Yet, another baldness disease among those different types of baldness is the telogen effluvium. This happens when the follicles of the hair happens to move to the stage of resting prematurely. Then, one last baldness type is anagen effluvium which is often caused by chemotherapy.
